Commander David K. Chareonsuphiphat
U.S. Coast Guard

Commander David Chareonsuphiphat was
born in Bangkok, Thailand and grew up in San Diego,
California. After graduating from the U.S. Coast Guard
Academy in May of 1990, he served aboard USCGC Sherman
(WHEC 720) as a student engineer qualifying as an Engineer
Officer of the Watch and Deck Watch Officer. After his
afloat tour he was assigned to Civil Engineering Oakland (CEU)
in the construction project management branch.
In April 1993, he reported to
Pensacola, FL to complete his flight school training and
received his wings a year and half later (Sept 1994). Upon
completion of flight school he reported to Air Station
Barbers Point in Oahu, Hawaii (1994-1999). While upgrading
to first pilot and aircraft commander in the HH-65 Dolphin
Helicopter, he completed his MBA. He also served as the
facility engineer when the U.S. Navy was forced to leave
Barbers Point during the base realignment and closure
process. His next aviation tour was Air Station Los Angeles
(1999-2003) where he became the Unit Standardization
Officer/Instructor Pilot (lead pilot to train upcoming
instructor pilots/junior pilots) and served as the Supply
Officer and Assistant Operations Officer.
CDR Chareonsuphiphat has a Bachelor of
Science Degree in civil engineering from the United States
Coast Guard Academy and passed the Engineer-in-Training test
from the state of Connecticut. In addition, he earned a
Masters Degree in business from Embry-Riddle University,
graduating with distinction.
CDR Chareonsuphiphat’s awards include
two Coast Guard Commendation Medals, two Achievement Medals,
the Commandant’s Letter of Commendation, Joint Meritorious
Unit Award, Secretary’s Outstanding Unit Award, Coast Guard
Unit Commendation, five Meritorious Coast Guard Unit
Commendations, two Meritorious Team Commendations, Coast
Guard “E” Ribbon, Coast Guard Bicentennial Unit
Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, the Global War
on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, the
Transportation 9-11 ribbon, Special Operations Service
ribbon and the Coast Guard Rifle and Pistol ribbons.
